Jacob’s Story

Jacob Burgess is a singer-songwriter from North Carolina, whose music blends the storytelling traditions of folk and Americana with intimate, heartfelt songwriting. In the summer of 2025, he signed with New Folk Records and released his debut album, “Land of Plenty,” in May of 2026.

The nine-song collection was shaped by Jacob’s admiration for author Jack Kerouac and his philosophy of spontaneous creation—trusting inspiration when it arrives rather than overthinking or endlessly revising it. Embracing that approach, Jacob crafted songs that are organic, honest, and deeply personal, allowing both the lyrics and instrumentation to emerge naturally.

Listeners are drawn to the warmth and sincerity that define Jacob’s music. Through intricate acoustic guitar work, a wide-ranging and expressive voice, and lyrics that explore life’s uncertainties, hopes, and everyday beauty, he creates songs that are both personal and universally relatable.

With Land of Plenty, Jacob introduces himself as a compelling new voice in contemporary folk music—one rooted in authenticity, storytelling, and genuine human connection.
